Having always wanted a dog from an early age, it was not until I was about 14 that I was allowed a dog of my own. I decided on an Irish Setter and set about looking for a puppy. A local breeder had a litter and a male puppy was purchased, this was to be the start of my interest in the show ring. After attending the local training classes I could not wait until Brandy ( Newlambton Masquerade ) was old enough to be shown. I only showed him at local shows mainly just Open, Limit & Sanction shows, however he did do reasonably well giving me a good start and insight to the world of show dogs.

After a couple of years I decided to buy a bitch with the intention of breeding. Once the bitch was old enough to show I realised that although she was well bred she would never do a lot in the ring. While attending the shows I became interested in the Welsh Springer Spaniel, and decided I had to have one. So although I did bred a litter from my Irish bitch no puppy was kept as by then I had my first Welsh Springer.

SH. CH. DALATI GWENT

This Welsh Springer was purchased from the famous Dalati kennel of Noel & Dodo Hunton-Morgans . He turned out to be my first champion Sh.Ch. Dalati Gwent. A return to Dalati for a bitch who became Sh.Ch. Dalati Hefin and this was the start of the FERNDEL kennel.
